Eli’s Senior Session in Waconia, Minnesota
Eli’s Senior Session was at another new location for me, and I again was totally blown away by how amazing it was. I actually drive by the Waconia City Park all the time and never really noticed it, but wow does it photograph well! It is like its own little hidden gem. Eli just booked a mini session with me so we did not have the most time to photograph, but this park was perfect with so many options in such a small area. It was a fun challenge for me to find variety in a small area, normally I just find a different wall on a new street. But I had so much fun with this challenge and really loved the results I got from this session! Eli’s original session first got rescheduled due to his wisdom teeth surgery, then his second date got rescheduled due to a torrential downpour- which as per usual- once we called off the session the sun came back out but it is okay, I’m not mad because third times the charm and we had such a gorgeous night, the lighting was just right, the weather was perfect and it was just right for a senior session.
Getting to know Eli was super awesome and I had a really good reminder from him. I normally begin every senior session with the basic questions, you know like “are you excited for your senior year?” “What is your plan for after school?” Those kinds of questions that every senior gets and probably learns to love…or hate. He started telling me he had no idea what he wanted to do. So then we talked about his activities he was in his interests and I suggested maybe pursuing his interests….. and that is when I realized I was doing it, everything I hated that people did to me, trying to determine my life when I didn’t need to know what I wanted to do. So now I am writing this lesson in Eli’s blog post because my time with him was a good reminder that you do not need to push seniors to know what they want to do with the rest of their life. They will figure it out, but decided your life as a 17 or 18-year-old is scary and overwhelming and not necessary. with all the stress that comes with finishing up high school and moving on from the familiar things, you grew up with. They will figure it out when they want to, I just hope that we can all encourage them a little bit more just to live and enjoy the last little bit of school they have left. So yeah, there is my little speech, let them enjoy their senior year everything will work out in the end. And us pestering them will probably only overwhelm them more.
So thank you Eli for that reminder, and I will ask but always let my seniors know that it is okay to not know what you want to do and remind my seniors that they should just enjoy this time in their life and not stress about the future.
Okay :) Here is Eli’s pictures now!
