University of Minnesota Cap and Gown Session

University of Minnesota Cap and Gown Session Minneapolis Minnesota

Something I really wanted to dip my toes into this year was extending my services to graduating seniors and offering graduation mini sessions. So when Grace reached out and asked if I could photograph her graduation pictures in her cap and gown I was so excited! We wandered around the University of Minnesota campus and found some great spots, worked on avoiding people, overall it was a really great session and it really challenged me to explore a new location, work on new poses and find creative ways to incorporate the graduation attire and diplomas in her pictures. Growing up in a small town, when I get to adventure into the Minneapolis area I am always pretty excited, and slightly intimidated. During this session, I was a little extra intimidated because the University of Minnesota- especially the Twin Cities location- is huge and I had never really been on that campus. But Grace showed me around the main area of campus and wow, was I blown away by the architecture of the buildings and how cool the pillars were. Definitely a wayyyy prettier college campus than the one I went to (no offense Ridgewater). But this was definitely a really cool location and I really enjoyed being able to photograph graduation images, on the campus grounds of the school Grace is graduating from. So I am pretty sold on the idea of doing all graduation sessions on the campus of the school others are graduating from.

Getting to know Grace was honestly so inspiring. I oftentimes get a little nervous before I meet new people before a session (it’s the introvert in me) but as soon as Grace and started talking all that anxiety just went away. Although I feel a little guilty because once I get used to someone, I tend to talk their ear off. Grace was a victim of my word vomit during this session. So Grace if you are reading this I’m so sorry!

But yeah, after this session I was all in on wanting to offer cap and gown mini sessions. So I decided that for the entire month of May I would offer graduation mini sessions for both high school and college graduates! So once you get your graduation attire (or borrow someone else’s) reach out and let’s celebrate your big accomplishment!

Also a little fun fact, last senior season I had taken Grace’s younger brother’s senior pictures in Waconia Minnesota so be sure to check out his blog post as well!

Here are Grace’s graduation images.
