Watertown Minnesota Graduation Session
It is so crazy that I am even writing this blog post, but my baby sister graduated?!? Literally so insane! It is so crazy because I feel like I just graduated but its been three years already, but it feels like yesterday.
Something that I just recently started offering in my business is graduation cap and gown mini’s. And they might be one of my new favorite things?? They are so much fun and a great way to celebrate your graduation, plus cap and gown mini sessions only take about 15 minutes! They are so easy book either before or after your graduation ceremony or any time once you receive you cap and gown from your school!
Growing up with a sister like Paige, is well interesting to keep it simple. As the oldest I had this tendency to be very bossy, and Paige was not about to be bossed around by big sister (although I’m sorta the little big sister now) so we had are typical sibling fights involving a few things like throwing step stools, chasing each other with bats, smacks, hair pulling screaming, you name it. We were probably not the easiest duo to raise (so nice job Jim and Diane we turned out pretty good). As we got older though things got better, until it was time for me to drive us to school and Paige was not a fan of getting there exactly as school was starting. Now that I moved to Fergus Falls however, we are doing much better :)
During Paige’s graduation ceremony I was feeling a little sentimental and had some mixed emotions. For one, who knew how fast your old high school can change. I graduated from Watertown-Mayer High School only in 2019, so three years ago, and there are missing walls, new sports facilities and a new media center. and so many other changes. I felt a little jealous that all the nice things happened AFTER I graduated. Like what the heck. Anyways it was nice seeing some of my old classmates who also had younger siblings graduating and it was nice to visit with my former teachers. It was walking through the halls of my old high school and seeing all the people I used to see everyday, that I started feeling grateful for my own cap and gown mini session, and the photos I took with my friends at graduation. I was reminded how important it is to have pictures of things you want to remember, even if it is just a phone photos. And I was reminded how special it is that I get to photograph those memories for people and be that person who provided the quality images that people will get to look back on and remember the old times. Every step my sister took down the aisle I was reminded of all the steps I took. And I was glad that I had my images and memories saved, just like hers would be. (Although i am thankful nobody was there to photograph our fights growing up, we do not need to remember that).
So here is a reminder from a photographer to your, take those pictures, save those moments, back-them up, cherish them and think back to all the good memories you get to revisit over and over again through pictures.
