Lester Prarie Senior Session - Lydia

To say that I am so EXCITED to be writing senior blog posts again is an understatement. Senior season is my favorite season I love getting to share galleries, experiences, and stories from working with my seniors. I was so excited to have Lydia kicking off my senior sessions this year with a session at her house! I love getting to go on location and see the places that my seniors find so special. And can we just mention how stunning some of your guy’s houses are?! Like I wish my house growing up was as photogenic. (no offense mom and dad) It was a lot of fun getting to road trip down to Lester Prarie from Fergus Falls to photograph Lydia, who happens to be a cousin of a former Jordan Elizabeth Photography senior last year (check out his session here).

When driving a few hours for sessions there are a couple of things that can be a little concerning. One of which is the weather. It is much harder to reschedule sessions that are a few hours away than it is to reschedule sessions that are a few minutes away. So we knew that we had to do Lydia’s senior session that day or it would be very difficult to get in. So when I saw rain in the forecast for Lydia’s sessions I got a little nervous. On my drive down from Fergus Falls, I kept checking the weather and seeing a 70%+ chance of rain all day long. We decided it was best to move her session up 30 minutes and what a difference that made, we were able to get in her entire session before the next rainfall and everything worked out perfectly. I do not like rescheduling sessions at all really, so unless I am absolutely sure that we will get rained on, snowed on, get blown away, or sweat our brains out, I tend not to reschedule sessions. I make these calls two hours before your session so that there is enough time to tell if the weather will change and enough time to communicate with you and make new plans.

Getting to know Lydia as we wandered her family’s property was so much fun. And as someone who has always admired the people who had animals, showed animals, and did the FFA things (clearly I do not fully understand it, I give you full permission to judge me for it) I always am just so amazed at what these people can do. And getting to photograph Lydia as just as amazing (especially after meeting her goats) and getting to hear her talk about her passions was incredible. I say this in every blog post but seniors are so amazing and I love working with them and photographing them. It is so inspiring to see how different everyone is and the different paths they are taking. I just find it so cool to get to learn from and hear from the different seniors during their sessions.
