Excelsior Minnesota Wedding

July 9, 2022

It was another fun little road trip from Fergus Falls, Minnesota back to my hometown for this wedding! Abby and Kobe’s day was nothing but perfect! Yes I do say every wedding was perfect(which they all are) but this day was incredibly perfect. Let’s start from the beginning of this amazing day: I started my day meeting the bridal party at the church where they finished getting ready. Abby and Kobe got married at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Excelsior, Minnesota. It was soooo stunning, it literally looked like a castle to me when I was first walking up to it. One of my favorite things that Abby and Kobe prioritized during their wedding day, was memories. There were many things that were very sentimental and memorable during their day. One of these things was that Our Savior Lutheran Church, was the church that Abby’s parents had gotten married in! I found that so special, but it gets even better. When Abby was putting her dress on she told me that she repurposed her moms dress as well. There were so many small details about this day that were so sentimental, meaningful and memorable. Every detail about the day was so intentional, it was beautiful. Also can we talk about how her mom made all of the flowers?! Literally they were soooo beautiful. When building this couples timeline we were a little worried about how much time we would need for photos because some of the group tends to run behind. However the bridal party was on-top of their game and they were so efficient that we finished ALL of the bridal portraits, bridal party images, and family photos and 90 MINUTES ahead of schedule! I have ever been that far ahead before during a wedding day, I did not know what to do with myself!

After their ceremony they partied it up for a few hours before bussing over to the Blue Note Ballroom in Winsted Minnesota. When the bus arrived, we heard a very very very good karaoke version of “Slim Shady". At this point, guests were getting hangry so it was time for the grand entrance! And let me tell you, this crew knew how to make and entrance! After a little pre-dinner craziness, there was some heart warming speeches and tear jerking first dances (father-daughter dances get me every time) and then, it was party time. This bridal party knew how to start and keep the party going. We had so much fun on the dance floor! And remember those sentimental details I mentioned from the ceremony? Yeah, all of their reception centerpieces where old wedding photos from their friends and family’s weddings in the past. Then during dinner the DJ walked around and talked about each couple featured on the tables. It was really a great way to honor the other couples in their lives!

Every wedding I get to photograph is always so different and so special in its own way. And after each wedding, I walk away so grateful (and exhausted haha introvert problems) and I just feel so blessed that I get the opportunity to photograph weddings and document these special days. Even though it was only been three years since I have become a wedding photographer the feeling never goes away.
