Fergus Falls Senior Session - Leila

Can we talk about how lucky I am as a photographer? To have this many gorgeous seniors is just insane! Leila was my first Fergus Falls senior since my big move last fall, and I am so excited to be writing this blog post. Leila chose to have her images taken in two locations, one being her house (which I’ve said before and I will say it again, HOW do you all have such photogenic houses??? Like what?!) and the second being at the tennis courts. When Leila first reached out she basically described the dream session, tall grass fields, and golden hour. They even referenced a prior Jordan Elizabeth’s senior session (click here to see it) to describe the vibe they wanted. To say I was excited was an understatement. I love running around in fields (I really should go take my own portraits in a field one of these days) and getting to work with someone who shares that same love is always so much fun. Mother nature really pulled through and gave us such a gorgeous night for Leila’s session. Everything could not have been more perfect.

Getting to know Leila during her session was just as exciting as hearing she wanted field pictures though. In between outfit changes, Leila’s mom was telling me about the story behind buying their house, how Leila and her dad had looked at it, and immediately knew it was the one. She told me about the dock and river and how that is a special place to their family so I was so excited to get to take some senior pictures there. We also found a gorgeous spot with the “reading tree” I was informed and I just found that incredibly special as well. I love getting to photograph in sentimental places, I think it just makes your senior pictures that much more special. I also love it when I get to incorporate the things that are special to you too. I have never photographed tennis pictures before so it was another great opportunity to learn and be creative while also highlighting something that Leila loves and is passionate about.

Speaking of special, Leila has a special talent for not taking a single bad image. When I sat down to start editing these I had the hardest time narrowing down what images to edit and send. After a session, I go home and back images up right away, but often times I also sit down and cull (or sort) through all the images. I take the 1000+ images I probably took during your session (over shooter over here but it’s fine) and narrow them down to 200-300 to send in your proof gallery. After my initial cull with Leila’s images though I still have over 600 images so I had to go through them again to narrow down some more. Leila was so easy to photograph and as I said before could not take a bad image.

So anyways I am still not the best at writing blogs but I am trying so here are Leila’s gorgeous images that I am so excited to share!
