Fergus Falls Senior Session- Ryder

I just love senior sessions, but something that I love more than senior sessions. Are senior sessions in the fall, and senior sessions that are personal. I think I have said this in every senior blog post but I love when seniors make their session personal and about them!

Ryder was no exception, he included so many things that he loves it really pushed me creatively and I learned a lot from Ryder.

Not only did I learn about how to pose with a bowling ball, or a car. But I also learned a lot from just being yourself. Ryder was a very inspiring guy during his session. And as I drove home I just kept thinking about how cool this guy was. He is very passionate about the things he likes. And is unapologetically himself and it was so cool to see and then get to photograph.

Ryder had a very overcast day but that didn’t stop his images from turning out amazing! And in all honesty, as much as I love warm golden hour session. Overcast sessions have a special place in my heart. As a photographer I actually prefer shooting in overcast days because it makes the light more flattering and even. And we can use ALL the locations mom picked out because I don’t have to worry about the sun casting horrible shadows on your face.

For Ryder’s session we went out to a family cabin in Underwood, Minnesota and again like I have said before, I LOVE it when I get to go to locations that are special to you. I love getting to push my creativity and find spots in a unknown location and I love getting to learn a little bit more about you just from the location you chose.

Ryder also chose to do a mini session at Northern Aire Lanes here in Fergus Falls to highlight the bowling side of his life. I have never photographed in a bowling alley so learning poses, and working with the lighting offered a new challenge and I accepted. I love learning and growing as a photographer and I am really happy with how these images turned out.

So here is a look at Ryder’s senior session from back in September!
