Minnesota Fall Wedding

I am so excited to be writing this blog post right now. Katie and Anthony have been a dream to work with and I am so over-the-moon in love with their images and obsessed with their wedding day!

When I first met Katie (and Anthony), Katie had hired me to be a second shooter for her at a Brainerd wedding in 2021. And it was at this wedding that I really go to see how incredible Katie and Anthony are as a team. Katie was the lead photographer for the day and Anthony was doing video. This was also the first time I worked with a husband-wife photo video team and it was super cool to see them work together (and made me try and convince my husband to team up with me too…. that failed nonetheless). Honestly I felt a little guilty, I was freshly out of photo school and thought I knew it all, and sort of acted like a know it all at this wedding. So I was a little nervous I left the wrong impression and would never hear from them again to second shoot if they were in the Northern Minnesota area. However when they reached out to me to photograph their own wedding I was so shocked but so excited to get to work with them again! Plus with a Minnesota Fall Wedding at a nature center, what kind of photographer wouldn’t be excited about that.

Now let me tell you a little bit about their day, it started out very normally, my second shooter and I (shoutout Liz Drevlow Photography) headed to the hotel to photograph the girls getting ready. Everything was amazing, the vibes here amazing. And Katie was probably the most laid-back chill bride I have ever worked with. But then I learned some details about the day thus far, I found out that Anthony had to go buy his suit at Macy’s that morning….. and he had to go buy a wedding band because his didn’t come in the mail on time! Now the bride in me was a little freaked out, my type A brain had everything organized, planned, and prepped weeks in advance for my own wedding. But the photographer in me, the peace keeper, and the person who tries my hardest to keep the day calm and smooth, was like sweet, that’s awesome and at least he got one that fits! (even though I was slightly panicking inside). But other than those things everything went so smoothly, we got ahead of schedule, and even though we had a few hiccups, and a groom who forgot the cake and then arrived 5 minutes before ceremony time. The day was truly amazing. Their ceremony was so personal and intimate. They wrote personal vow to each other, which had me tearing up. And the whole day was a reflection of them and it was so incredible. And even though it had snowed the night before, all the snow melted, and right when it was time for portraits they got a warm golden hour glow to shine on them and it was so magical. I just also really want to mention how intentional and true to themselves they were for their wedding day. From the disco ball decorations to Katie’s gorgeous veil. All of the details were just so them (and the events that happened before the wedding were true to Katie and Anthony’s fashion). Their day was just so perfect and I am so glad that I got to be a part of it and got to document all those moments to relive the day.

I feel so blessed to have been chosen to photograph Katie and Anthony’s big day. And as anxious as it made me to photograph another photographer’s wedding, I am so glad I had the opportunity too document their memories and moments. I am so in love with their images and I am so excited to be sharing some of the highlights from their day!
