Feeling a little nostalgia after shooting Connor’s Excelsior Minnesota senior session. Excelsior is where I had my senior pictures taken as well as its where I started my senior session business. I did almost every senior session in Excelsior when I first started taking senior pictures. So when Connor’s mom reached out asking about doing senior pictures in Excelsior I was so excited! It worked out perfectly as I was already in the Twin Cities metro area for a family wedding so a quick pit stop on the way home to Fergus Falls was perfect. Mitchell (my husband) and I got to explore some of the shops and I was so excited to go find all my favorite spots for seniors again.

I had so much fun getting to know Connor and his sister during his senior session and getting to reminisce about my time living in the Twin Cities. I love getting to know seniors during their session and hear about all the different paths they take. Connor opted for my quick and easy 30 minute package which I love offering for the seniors who want professional images done, but don’t want to spend hours taking photos. 30 minutes a the perfect amount of time for get lots of variety in your images, incorporate things you love but still keep the session short and sweet. Locations like downtown Excelsior are great for the variety of images you can get in a short amount of time. I love how in just a 5 minute walk I can find 10-12 different backgrounds to help great differences in your senior images. A simple background and lighting change can make a significant difference between image sets. When looking for senior locations specifically for the mini sessions, I keep things like this in mind. I ask myself questions like, how much variety can I get at this location, what can I alter to make each image different and unique. Whether is be a pose, angle. position or background all together.
