What to expect for your Senior Session

Before we get into the senior session experience, I just want to take a moment to just say, I am so excited to be back into writing senior session content. Senior sessions are where I got my start in portrait photography and they really hold a special place in my heart. Each session is so special and unique. I love being able to create a personal experience for every senior I work with.

Okay, so now for the focus of this blog post and enough about how much I love senior sessions. What to expect for your senior session. From the moment you inquire to the final edits of your portraits it is very important to me to have a personalized experience and make sure your session is about YOU. Once you inquire I send a questionnaire to you that helps me get to know you a little bit as well as get an idea of what you are looking for with your senior pictures. Questions on this questionnaire help me prepare a location guide for you, get an idea of the time of day that would fit your vision, and also help me direct you into the package that would fit you best. I have three options for packages, I have a “mini” package which is great for you seniors that do not love having your picture taken, you want a quick and simple photo shoot to get yourself some nice professional images for the yearbook, graduation cards and for your mom to share on Facebook ;). This session is only 30 minutes long, which gives us enough time for one location and maybe two outfits if you want. I love these mini-sessions because of how simple they are. My next session is just a standard full session. This session is 60 minutes long and it is my most common session. This session length is great for the senior who wants to do photos in a couple of outfits, have a little more variety in backgrounds/locations, and those seniors who are in 1-2 activities and want to do photos incorporating those activities into their images. Lastly, for you seniors that seem to be involved in everything, and want multiple locations and outfits I have an extended session option, this option is 90 minutes long and gives us enough time to incorporate everything you want into your senior session. Having these different options of session lengths allows me to have a session everyone will be happy with.

While planning your senior session I will ask questions about what type of location you want, I will go just about anywhere for senior sessions, I love getting to photograph in new places and special places that are special to you the senior. From the family farm to your favorite park, or even downtown in the town you grew up vacationing in, I love getting to add that personal touch to senior sessions. but do not worry if you can’t think of any places, I spend countless hours driving around the Fergus Falls area and probably know a few great spots that will fit what you're looking for. From beautiful nature spots to downtown Fergus Falls. I know a few great spots to go for your senior session. Check out that blog here (and these are only a few of the locations I have pinned!)

When you book a senior session with me, I want to make sure you go into feeling confident and prepared. I love being able to answer any questions you may have, whether it be how your outfits will photograph, how to style your hair, what locations to pick, or any other questions you may have. You can always reach out and I will be excited to help.

Feeling confident and comfortable when working with me is so important. During your session, I do my absolute best to talk and laugh with you so that you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Nobody wants to look stiff and awkward during their senior session so through prompt and movement-based posing I create natural-looking poses and images. Using simple prompts like twisting back and forth or shifting your weight between your feet, can really help make a stiff pose not stiff anymore.

Once your session is complete I will have your photos delivered to your inbox in two weeks, fully edited and ready for you to pick from. Each package includes a different number of images, however, I send 100+ photos for every galley for you to choose from. As an add-on, you can also purchase all of your images for an additional charge, so you don’t have to feel stuck with a limited amount of photos. You can also purchase any prints, graduation party invites, or senior albums from me directly as well.

Once you select your images I will go back through your photos and do any requested retouching and get your final images back to you within a week :)

Overall I like to keep a very simple process but I like to keep everything personal to you!

I am so excited for this upcoming senior season and cannot wait to meet all of you seniors this year!
