Senior Session Outfit Tips

When picking your outfits for your senior session you want to pick things that make you feel comfortable and confident! If you do not typically wear turtle necks for example, and you feel like they strangle you, do not wear them to your senior session! If you love mom jeans and graphic t-shirts, well you better wear that to your session! These photos are to showcase who you are and your personality! So there is no reason to pretend to be someone your not for the sake of your senior pictures! (I even wore leggings and my favorite shirt in my senior pictures!)

  • I know it can also be hard to determine how many outfits to bring for your senior session! My packages help eliminate some of that stress by limiting the outfit changes but I always recommend you bring at least two outfit changes! I always ask that you start with a casual outfit! Something that makes you feel comfy and confident! Starting with a casual outfit helps you feel relaxed until you start to feel more comfortable in front of a camera, so that is why I like to start with a casual outfit. Next, I recommend you pack a more formal outfit, whatever formal means to you, if it means a dress and heals perfect, a pair of jeans without rips, that works too! Either way, just pack a more dressy outfit for your session, this will help you get more variety in your images, as well as the dressy outfit, can double as a professional headshot down the line! (Plus grandma would love to see you dressed up!)

  • Depending on your package this is when choosing other outfits can get challenging, when picking additional outfits, just keep in mind what you like to wear or what you are involved in! I played softball in high school, so one of my additional outfits was my softball uniform! The same goes for any type of activity you are involved in if you are in a band- bring your band shirt if you are active in things like student council bring a student council shirt! Anything works as long as it helps tell the story of you! (I know someone who wore their Harry Potter Shirt and brought their books and the images turned out so cute!) A few other ideas for outfits could be, an additional dressy outfit, sports uniforms, club uniforms, or even wearing your future college apparel for a couple of shots!

Just a few other random tips for preparing your outfits!

  • Always try your outfits on before your session! Make sure everything fits good, and that you feel amazing in it! If you do not like it in the mirror you won’t like it in the pictures.

  • Wear the proper undergarments, you probably do not want bra straps showing or your underwear showing through! So just be mindful of your undergarments in your outfits.

  • If your first outfit involves bold colors or patterns, make your second outfit more neutral just to give some more variety and different looks to your images!

  • You can also always send me your outfit ideas and I can give you some feedback on them!
