Buffalo River State Park Engagement Session

Hello…. it’s me, finally trying to get caught up on blogging. Busy season was well… busy. I am so grateful for the job I have as a photographer and getting to photograph so many weddings, couples and seniors is such a blessing. But when you are busy, things get put on the back burner sometimes, and for me, that is blogging.

But I am ready to get back into it as I dive into my slow season, which I like to refer to as the learning season.

So here I am in November blogging about an engagement session I did back in JULY…. so yeah for sure, fell off the wagon on this one. But now I get to relive this dreamy golden hour session at Buffalo State Park and think about the warm sun as it is once again snowing in Minnesota as I write this. Ally and Tyler were so much fun to work with. I loved getting to know them during their session and hearing all about their wedding planning and how they got engaged and all the things. It was really nice to also be able to share about my own wedding planning and get to connect with my couples more this past season as I also got to plan my wedding at the same time they were planning theirs. Plus when planning my wedding it was an eye opener to all that goes into planning a wedding and seeing the side of it I normally don’t see as a wedding photographer.

Normally what I see from my end is the timelines, the shot list, and some of the details like colors and the venue. But when planning my own wedding I realized that there is so much more to it than booking a venue, hiring a few vendors, making a guest list, and showing up. But now after planning my wedding, I have so much more knowledge and advice that I get to share with my future clients and make their planning go smoother if they need help.

Getting to serve clients beyond photographing and delivering images is really what makes me love my job. From dress carrying, veil setting, or just having an understanding of how most wedding days work and being able to guide and answer questions along the way is so amazing and I love being able to be as helpful as possible to my clients.

So during Ally and Tyler’s session is really when I realized how cool it is to have the knowledge to share with my clients about wedding days and planning. And I always get to learn more with every couple I get to work with and photograph.

Anyways here are some images from Ally and Tyler’s engagement session. And now you can look at the warm dreamy golden hour session and think about warm summer as we enter another Minnesota winter….. at least the snow is pretty right?
